Some 80 young musicians performed over 120 pieces covering a wide range of voices and instruments at Saffron Walden's first music festival last weekend. Hosted by the County High School, the weekend culminated with a concert in which all the section winners performed to compete for the Mullucks Wells Festival Cup.
Winners were selected in each of the separate disciplines but the overall winner and winner of the Mullucks Wells Festival Cup was George Harliono-Evans. David Emberson, Director of Mullucks Wells who presented him with the cup said: "I was so impressed with the standard of talent on the day and we were delighted to be a part of it. Congratulations to George who displayed huge talent and I wish him every success in his future musical career."
The adjudicator, John York, gave fabulous, instructive and supportive comments to each performer. Parents and participants all felt that the experience had been an extremely positive one and agreed that the festival had been a tremendous success.
