Bishop's Stortford estate agent Mullucks Wells has supported the Hastingwood charity's new shop donations van by paying for the vehicle's graphics. The vehicle is vital to ensuring that the retail arm of the charity runs efficiently. Drivers cover more than 18,000 miles a year across West Essex and East Herts, collecting donations and making deliveries to the hospice's eight shops, including its specialist music and bookshop in Devoils Lane in Stortford. The charity also offers a free furniture collection service across its catchment area, with the sale of donated items making a vital contribution to the retail team's £500,000 income generation target as part of the hospice's annual £4m running costs.
Fiona Eaton, St Clare's head of retail, said: "We are delighted to have our new van on the road and are extremely grateful to Mullucks Wells for their sponsorship.
"Donations of furniture are an absolutely vital source of income for St Clare, and our new van and online booking facility will make it easier than ever to donate your quality items of furniture to us."
Mullucks Wells Managing Director, Richard Roberts said: "We would encourage everyone who has a piece of quality furniture that they no longer use to consider donating it to St Clare. We can't think of a better way to find a new home for your pre-loved furniture than by giving it to St Clare and contributing to the fantastic service they provide free of charge to local people with life limiting illnesses and their families".
St Clare particularly wants sofas and armchairs, dining tables and chairs, occasional tables and quality bookcases, wardrobes, dressing tables and chests of drawers and divans with mattresses. The charity can only accept soft furnishings that have fire labels attached.
