The Essex artist who shot to fame when his work was chosen by the Prince of Wales to appear in an exhibition, is selling his home and studio.
Known for his landscape work, Ross Loveday’s property in Stansted Mountfitchet is now on the market with leading local estate agent, Mullucks Wells.
“I’d exhibited before,” explains Ross, “but I was overwhelmed by the interest that followed His Royal Highness’ exhibition. Prince Charles went on to buy one of the pieces and it forms part of his private collection. When the Prince was interviewed about my work, it soon became clear I was going to need more space for a studio, so we bought Fairfield in Stansted Mountfitchet, complete with outbuildings.”
Ross’ art is featured at the Eames Gallery in London and at the Bircham Gallery in Holt, Norfolk. His work is influenced by the North Norfolk coastline as well as his local surroundings in Essex.
“I’m a very keen cyclist and despite what people think, Essex is not flat!” he explains. “I enjoy cycling around the area and get inspiration from both what I see and feel in the atmosphere of the landscape.
“I’m also passionate about other people’s art,” he adds. “And in fact there’s only one of my pieces on display in our house, in the kitchen. I think it’s like writing a book, when you’re finished it’s time to move on to something new.”
Fairfield in Silver Street, Stansted Mountfitchet, is an impressive Georgian house on four floors including the cellar. It has six bedrooms, plus two further rooms on the second floor used by Ross as a studio. His work is owned by the Prince of Wales, racing driver and commentator Martin Brundle, comedian Rob Brydon and the House of Lords. He is currently working on an album cover commission and some new pieces of sculpture for the Eames Gallery.
William Wells of Mullucks Wells said: “This is a distinctive elegant house and it’s easy to see why it’s been such a perfect place to live and work. It’s ideally positioned for the station and the motorway, it’s also surrounded by an acre of its own grounds; a rare find in a village like this.”
Fairfield, Stansted Mountfitchet, is on the market for £1,200,000. For more information, please call Mullucks Wells on 01279 755400.
