Rare Faberge Gum Pot Realises £10,000 at Mullucks Wells Auction
A tiny but incredibly rare Faberge gum pot made an incredible £10,000 at yesterday’s (26th March) Mullucks Wells selected Fine Art and Antiques Sale in the Dunmow Salerooms. "This Faberge gum pot, Imperial Russian circa 1900 by important senior workmaster Henrik Wigstrom in 14 ct gold, silver and guilloche enamel, had an original estimate of £400 - £600," says Lloyd Rust, Saleroom Manager, Mullucks Wells. “The interest generated confirmed our belief that this was an especially exciting item so we increased the estimate to £8,000 to £12,000; the final price realised was spot on and a great boost.”
A 1984 Lotus Esprit Turbo in Calypso red (estimate £2,000 to £3,000) also reached a high price making over £7,000. An Indian Tiger head by Van Ingen of Mysore, shot by Mr Watts Morgan and from an estate in east Hertfordshire (estimate £400 - £600), fetched over £1,000; while an unusual Maori War club (estimate £100 - £200) also made over £1,000.
The next Mullucks Wells selected Fine Art and Antiques Sale in the Dunmow Salerooms is on Monday 16th July.
