New Units on Shirehill Bring Fresh Produce to Saffron Walden
Carlton Place, occupying the site of the old Carlton Sports factory, is a new development of 18 industrial/warehouse units. Fisher and Woods, moved into Unit 13 at the beginning of October. Says Olly Roe, Managing Director of the fresh produce supplier, "We are delighted to have secured one of these units for our business. Its location close to the town centre will enable us to provide a quicker response service to our many clients in Saffron Walden as well as providing a convenient central point between the London wholesale markets, where we buy much of our produce daily, and the rest of our suppliers and client base throughout Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire and East Hertfordshire".
Owners of the units, Square Deal (Argyle) Limited in Bishop's Stortford, have offers on four more of the units. According to Kirstine Brown, Commercial Manager at selling agents Mullucks Wells, "we, and joint agents Strettons, are receiving a good level of interest in these units. The availability of new industrial or warehousing units around Saffron Walden is limited and with the benefits of 3 phase power, internal offices, parking and loading space all within a secure fenced estate, these units offer quite a unique opportunity, either for a small company that is looking for the right facilities to help expand their business or for a larger company looking to establish a base within a convenient location for the M11, Cambridge or Stansted."
Continues Olly, "the clean modern facilities offered in Carlton Place were ideal for our business and provide us with the capacity we need to really expand our business. Because we took on the lease before the building work was completed, we were able to have some input in the layout and, unlike the rest of the units, we have created our office space on the first floor which means the entire ground floor can be used for storage. On top of that, Square Deal were happy to provide an option to purchase within our lease, a real bonus in this turbulent economy."
Fisher and Woods supply fresh fruit and vegetables, specialty breads and dairy products to hotels, restaurants, schools and event caterers around the region, sourcing locally where possible or via daily trips to the London wholesale markets.
