Massive Interest Expected at Saffron Walden’s First Property Auction in Nearly 4 Years - Auction Date 12th February 2008
Estate agents Mullucks Wells are auctioning three lots, including an early 1900s house on Radwinter Road and a Grade II listed period cottage in Hadstock - both in need of renovation - as well as almost 20 acres of grazing land near Clavering.
Residential Sales Manager Graham Newman said: "Auctions rarely take place in Saffron Walden itself, and Mullucks Wells is the only estate agent to hold them in the town. We don't expect people to have to traipse into Cambridge or London - instead, this is a local auction featuring local properties for local people."
The house on Radwinter Road has three bedrooms, two reception rooms and a kitchen with a pantry, and stands in a plot of just under quarter of an acre. It's being sold with a guide price £275,000.
The partly-thatched Grade II listed cottage in Hadstock dates back to the 18th Century and has four rooms to the ground floor plus a kitchen, cellar and bathroom, as well as two bedrooms and a storeroom on the first floor. It stands in around a third of an acre and also has a guide price of £275,000.
The plot of grazing land near Clavering is well-fenced, has road access and extends to 19.5 acres. It's coming under the hammer with a guide price of £100,000.
Graham Newman added: "These properties have already had local and national advertising and there's been a huge amount of interest. In an uncertain market, an auction can take the uncertainty out of the selling process - the properties are available to everyone and everyone can benefit from the best price on the day. And when the hammer falls, that's it - the sale is done!"
