Barley Charity Dinner Boosts Funds
More than £6,000 was raised at a charity dinner by leading
local estate agents Mullucks Wells as part of their 21st
anniversary fundraising year.
90 people attended the event at the Town House in Barley near
Royston - who were invited for free, but encouraged to donate as
much as they could. The dinner was hosted by local resident and
Mullucks Wells Director, William Wells. His wife, Julia, prepared
the three course meal which included a smoked salmon starter, a
main course of pheasant donated by Mullucks Wells Chairman Tim
Trembath, and a selection of desserts.
The evening culminated in an auction of donated prizes including
a pet portrait by a local artist, a week’s holiday in a
converted barn in Brittany and a pair of tickets for the December
fixture between QPR and Arsenal. The sale was carried out by
highly-regarded auctioneer and Mullucks Wells consultant Bruce
Munro. The auction alone raised nearly £5,000.
Mullucks Wells Director and event organiser, William Wells,
said: “This was a marvellous event and I am overwhelmed by
people’s generosity. Our nominated charities for this
anniversary fundraising year will be enormously grateful for the
donations and the total takes us ever nearer our very ambitious
target of raising £50,000 in 12 months.”
The money raised so far by Mullucks Wells has now reached
£40,000. To mark this sum, the company has produced a
thermometer to highlight the final months of their fundraising
year.
